Today, February 27th 2019, it is exactly 10 years since we opened the doors to this forum. :fun: Since then, the forum has not changed much, but it is still going strong. I just wanted to thank our great members for finding and sharing content during all these years, the other admins for helping with running the forum, and a special thanks to Mistress Taylor for hosting us and not asking anything in return. :thumb:

Hopefully we still have many years ahead of us. As I mentioned above, the forum hasn't changed much in 10 years, but if anyone has some ideas on things we could do to make the forum better, feel free to share your ideas in this thread.

We're already as big a monument in the L&C community as Hajo and the Yahoo Group girlscarryguys! Congrats to us. :D:thumbup1:

Probably one of the oldest posts in the forum:

Please post here if you make any major modifications so we can keep track.
02/23/2009.
Created VIP I, II, III usergroups and set posting permissions.
Still need to do access permissions once the boards are finalized.

We did some work on the forum for a few days before we opened the doors for other members. The first member that signed up was Ninjabuddy, on February 27th. -dp

Wow, that's a great milestone to reach!

Maybe I'll get VIP access before we reach 20 years!

You meet the VIP requirements, and it's the end of the month (when I usually do VIP promotions), so I've given you VIP access now. :thumb:

(Btw, there is a dedicated thread for VIP applications. I don't normally do promotions unless it is requested there, but I made an exception in this case. ;))

Maybe it's time we think of some security here. A secure http address comes to mind. What say? I mean some pretty personal info gets shared here, one can never be too careful...

We recently had a server upgrade, and our old forum software wasn't fully compatible with the new server software and configuration. That is why many of you had problems logging in recently (pretty much all browsers except Firefox were locked out).

That particular issue is now fixed, but there's at least one problem that is still not fixed: It is not possible to create new threads (which is why I'm posting in this already existing thread ;)). The fix is simple, but it needs low level server access (which we don't have), so we have forwarded the instructions for fixing it to the support staff of our hosting company.

If you have any questions, feel free to post them in this thread until we get things working normally again.

However, I was afraid that the forum was lost since it was down for several days.

It was unfortunate that we were not able to put up a notice that informed everyone what was going on. I am sure many were starting to wonder why it was taking so long.

In the future, remember that we make backups of the forum every day, so the worst case scenario is that the forum is down for a couple of weeks while we move the data to a new server. We'll never need to start from zero again, since we will always have a recent backup that we can use to recreate the forum.

I think it was lifted.makeforum.org

That is correct!

I think there was another one before that if I am not mistaken? At default, it was a green webpage?
