My reaction isn't much a story to be honest. With my sister, it was kind of a gradual thing. I was always a little surprised when she did something new, but like I said, I'm the oldest sibling, but not the oldest cousin, and the girls were always as rough and tough as us boys, so I was used to all the wrestling and lifting.

I can't remember the first time she lifted me, but I think it was kind of leg press style if that counts. We would have been pretty young. I do remember one day, after she already knew she could pick me up the normal way - bear hug style - she just, out of the blue, said "Hey, I bet I can hold you in my arms." She meant cradle carry, so I said "Oh, I don't know. Let's see." She didn't find that one super easy at first, but when she tried it again a few years later, she said she couldn't believe how easy it got. To be honest, I don't really understand that one because her arms don't seem that strong in other contexts, so why is cradle carry so easy for her?

Then of course there's the piggyback rides. She was probably 9 or 10 the first time she did that. I didn't actually think it would work. I knew most healthy people could lift more than their own body weight, but I guess I just assumed such a big gap would be hard for a kid so young to overcome, but no. As a teenager, she liked giving me piggyback rides to show off. She and her friends did it pretty often, but it was "cooler" that she could carry me I guess.

As an adult, I guess she kind of grew out of it, and I'm not interested in trying to purposefully get more lifts from her for the feeling of being lifted. It seems weird to me to do it for that reason because she's my sister. Still, all of us kids had fun.
