smaller bodies mainly have shorter limbs, acting like shorter levers that use less energy to do the same amount of work
shorter people have a greater muscle volume in relation to a smaller surface area, the thicker the muscles, the stronger they are; length doesn't add strength, it adds more body weight that's more difficult, for yourself, to move and/or carry around the taller you are
being lighter also means that it's easier to lift you, obviously, and less of your total strength is dedicated to holding up your own body weight, proportionally freeing up more power to more easily lift and carry someone else
plus, being closer to the ground lowers your center of mass, adding more stability
