A few months ago, we installed a new system for giving thanks to good posts. Because of this, it is now possible to post summaries of each month's best posts and posters. I hope you find the below lists both interesting and motivating. ;)

Thats a very fun stat to look at. Is it possible without doing more work, to break the list down ever farther and give the totals, then give the totals for most thanks for F/F and F/M separetly.

You mean the "top 10 posts" lists, right? It is possible to do that, but maybe you prefer "top 5" instead of "top 10" in that case? There will be less high-rated posts when we separate the F/M and F/F posts into two lists, so we might want to go from 10 to 5.

I appreciate feedback on this, so I hope you or anyone with strong opinions about it will let me know what they think.

Don't be so sure, the highest rated post got 34 clicks, and it was a single video clip. It will probably be hard to get this with a wrestling clip, though. (Unless a WWE diva like Kelly Kelly or Kaitlyn gorilla presses a male wrestler or something... :D)

Ray, I tend to agree with you about the needle in the haystack issues of finding clips. While some clips may get 20 or 30 thanks, it really is very time consuming to keep finding clips that may be new. It is a real pain in the butt to watch a 5 minute clip, looking for that one 10 or 15 or 30 second part and then learing that there is no lift in the clip at all - or if there is a lift, it is 2 seconds long and not worth posting. Your contributions are great and are obviously the result of tremendous efforts on your part, whether you get lots of thank you posts or not.

We should also start to track who is giving thanks see how many people are actually thanking for the posts. Always seems to be the same 15-20 people and this forum has a lot more people then 15-20 who are active.

As of today, 412 different members have thanked posts using the new system. That is more than the number of people that have received thanks.

It looks like only a few people are using it because people only thank posts they really like (as they should), and everybody has favorite topics even within the niche of L&C.

For example, almost all the posts I've thanked are in the F/M wrestling, acrobatics and TV/movie threads, because those are my favorites. Those 15-20 people you have noted are probably fans of the same types of content you prefer and post yourself. ;)

Good point. I only see the same names on the posts I post to and like and not other parts of the board. I didn't realize that many people were posting to other parts of the board that I didn't view. Ignorant of me of course.

There is some serious mistake happened in counting the number of thanks. My total number of Thanks are more than 740 and they were 177 in March end so Total number is more than 550 this month alone. Same thing applies for my individual posts as for example this particular post http://landcforum.com/forums/showthr...p?t=707&page=4 has got 34 Thanks but it is not showing above. Same way there are other posts in this month which are not reflected above.

Good catch ganju, it seems that the "thanks" plugin to the forum has some broken data in the database that could not be used when making the summaries. :cursing: Updated scores will follow - please check it and see if it looks good now.

What about me. Is it a policy one member can get the clips once only as I got last month. I just could not get the basis of selection as both in FF as well as FM I am clear winner this month. Kindly explain.

We use random draws from the top 10/25 pools to avoid having the same people winning every month.

One reason is that it would not be very motivating for other members if only the #1 position was rewarded. It is impossible to reach that position on some types of content (rare content, or content that is not as popular as other types).

Also, Taylor and Rachel would not have donated clips if they all ended up at with the same people.

Are the clips no longer being offered for the random top posters?

No, that's over for now. The reason for the clip prizes was to motivate people to contribute more. Based on our experience, the prizes did not help in that regard.

Most of the really good contributors didn't even claim their free clips (probably because they don't care about staged lifts). Also, no-one seemed to be talking about the prizes, probably not even caring that they were there. You are the first to ask what happened to them, even though it's been two months without prizes.

Another reason is that we should really have gotten more clip producers involved - it wouldn't be fair to Rachel and Taylor that only they were expected to give out free clips when where are other producers advertising here.

Based on how little the clip prizes meant to our members, and how much work it would be to keep doing them, we believe it's best to end the experiment. Sorry.

That's too bad. That was a huge motivating factor for me. Shocked to hear those weren't claimed. I was really looking forward to a Rachel clip one day :( thought that was one of the best ideas you mods had. Saddened to hear that few agreed with me. Won't stop posting, but nothing to shoot for anymore.

One reason to post even after having reached the highest VIP levels is to help keep the forum alive. That's what motivates me to post - if this forum didn't exist, there's so much L&C content I'd never see, no matter how much time I spent looking. Having everything in one place sure makes it easier. :)

Regardless: If more people complained about the end of clip prizes, I would talk to more producers and see if we could get it started again. But I need to know that a significant group actually care, as managing the prizes takes more time than you'd think.

If we bring back the monthly prizes be assured that it will be retro adjusted much like the first month was last time. There are a lot of new producers and want to let them get their feet on the floor before we consider asking them.

I do not know in which category I fall. I started as an avid lift and carry fan and now I am a producer too. I will be more than happy to offer free clips for monthly prizes if required. You can always count me on this.

There seems to be some mistake. Last month my total Thanks were 1955. This month its 2166. The difference is 211. But instead its showing 149 this month.

There's no mistake. The difference (211-149 = 62) is thanks that was given for older posts (i.e., posts made before January 2012). You can still get thanks for those, years after you made the posts (from new members for example), but they only count towards your all-time total, not the monthly sums.

It is possible, but we excluded admins because they would occupy too many positions in the top 10 lists. We did this to make it easier for regular members to show up in the top 10 lists. Here are last month's lists with admins included:
